Dr. Christopher Pagel

Dr. Christopher Pagel
A Madisonian since 1987, Dr. Pagel grew up in Grafton and Mequon, and came for his undergraduate degree here (BS - Philosophy and Zoology 1991) as well as veterinary school (DVM 1995).

"The only city that could keep me from moving out West is Madison," he says. As soon as he saw a hospital for sale in Madison in 1996, he couldn't resist.

Since 2000, Dr. Pagel has been a veterinarian for an exotic cat sanctuary, helping care for 50 big cats, like tigers, lions, and cougars.

Dr. Kietra Kay
Dr. Kay (last name rhymes with "sky") is a 1998 graduate of the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced large animal medicine, but found her greatest calling working with small animals. Dr. Kay joined Companion Animal Hospital in 2003, and she has enjoyed working with the great staff, clientèle, and the kittens who run the clinic. She is very much "in her element" with internal medicine and soft-tissue surgery.

Dr. Kay has volunteered with many rescue organizations over the years, performing surgeries and giving informative lectures. Since 2006, she has devoted her Fridays to the Dane County Humane Society's program of traveling around Southern Wisconsin to perform spay and neuter surgeries for shelters and rescue groups. This has allowed her to constantly improve her surgical skills while helping those in need.

Dr. Kay has previously owned dogs and a horse. She currently cares for "three crazy cats" named Johnny, Scooter, and Stewie.

Dr. Mia Hospel
Dr. Hospel joined Companion Animal Hospital in January of 2008, working part-time. She divides her week between work and family: husband Tim, and children Caydon, age four, and Davyn, age two. The part-time schedule is "perfect for her."

Dr. Hospel has always lived in the Madison area. She graduated from McFarland High School prior to earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from UW-Madison. She then attended the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2000.

Dr. Hospel has owned many cats, dogs, reptiles, and a bird. Many of her pets are now "old-timers," and she carefully cares for their geriatric needs.

As a part of the Companion Animal Hospital team, Dr. Hospel takes pride in working with a number of rescue organizations to benefit Dane County cats and dogs.
